Have you heard this saying? It's all about the journey, not the destination. We all know our ultimate destination in this lifetime is the grave….no matter what your beliefs, this physical lifetime will end…so we better have some fun on the way there, don't you think?
I lost my husband of 30 years at the tender young age of 60 and I can assure you, neither of us ever saw that one coming. He always told me he was going to live forever and I believed him. It seems funny to even realize that I really did believe him, but here I am and he's been gone more than a year already.
I have learned that tomorrow is never guaranteed and that the key is to enjoy each day and be grateful for what I have today. Look back and notice how far you've come. It's truly amazing how much life changes in such a short period of time.
Learning to let go is a hard thing. But it will help you, especially long term. My whole life has changed. I have moved three times. I am now back in my hometown, have two beautiful new grandchildren, adding to the three I already had and life is good. Sure, I would love to have my husband here with me, but he's not…and life goes on, even mine.
I have learned that exercise, including outdoor cardio and indoor yoga, can help me cope. When things come crashing down, I put on my tennis shoes, headphones and sunglasses and take off walking, fast, then slow, then fast again. Exercise is the best antidote for depression I have found and there are many health benefits as well. And, I can never say enough about my yoga practice. I have been practicing yoga in my home for over 20 years. I have taken classes as well but find that I most enjoy being at home doing my yoga with my phone app or a youtube video.
I'm hoping that you can find something that can help you enjoy each day as well! Smile and Be Here Now! Remember, life's about the journey….not the destination.
