The great freeze of 1895-1895 was one of the major influences in the growth of Miami into the city it is today. Julia Tuttle, also known as the "mother of Miami", convinced railroad tycoon Henry Flagler to expand the Florida East Coast Railway to the Miami area after this devastating winter. All the crops in Florida were frozen except in Miami during that freeze. Miami became a city in 1896 and had a population of a little over 300 at that time.
The Miami area is home to numerous attractions and encounters, and you can choose accordingly, depending on your interests. There are alligator farms, of course, the Miami Seaquarium, plenty of waterparks,museums, nature, parks, gardens and so much more to experience in this beautiful area of Florida. And, did I mention world class fishing?
There are literally hundreds of healthcare facilities in this area of Florida including the Mount Sinai Medical Center, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Today's Women Medical Center, North Miami Beach Medical Center and so many more. Travel nursing jobs and healthcare traveler jobs can be found in many of these facilities.
Of course, there are renowned national sports teams playing in Miami like the Miami Heat in the NBA and who could forget the Dolphins in the NFL? National sports teams, world class fishing and water activities, culture, art and an abundance of things to explore, all here for your adventure and you can believe that it is warm year round in South Florida.
