Walk Away Your Stress

Walk Away Your Stress

That's right, walk away your stress. I know it sounds too easy to be true but it really is this simple. No matter what type of day you had, a brisk walk will make you feel better. If you can manage to get outdoors, it will be even more beneficial.

In the last couple of years so many things have happened in my life that have thrown me for a loop. I can honestly say that walking has probably saved my life. I have a fast playlist with a lot of music to keep me moving. So I grab the headphones, put on my good walking shoes, and take off. I am lucky to be in a small town and can walk throughout local neighborhoods, and of course I live in Florida so the weather is almost always suitable.

There are plenty of studies that show how beneficial walking can be for you mentally as well as physically. I have recently added High Intensity Interval Training (hiit) to my walks and that has upped the benefits even more. You just increase your intensity for short spurts during the walk. I usually walk for at least an hour if possible. During that hour I do a 20 minute period where I run for 30 seconds and then walk for 1.5 minutes, then run for 30 seconds and walk for 1.5 minutes. I do this about ten times and the rest of the hour I am walking briskly.

Walk away your stress! Just try it and you will be amazed at the difference in the way you feel and if you are consistent you will start to see many other improvements in your wellbeing, mental clarity and much more. Be safe and get outdoors if you can!
