Tips for Completing Travel Nurse Skills Checklist

Tips for Completing Travel Nurse Skills Checklist

A skills checklist is one of the very first things your recruiter will ask you to do as they must assess level of competency. This is one of the main ways the recruiter can make sure you are the right fit for the job so these checklists can seem overwhelming.

First of all, take your time. This is an important first step and you should take your time and not rush. Rushing may cause you to forget some important detail or make you have to start from scratch again. Better to go slow and think about it the first time.

You don't want to promise or exaggerate skills that you do not have or are not able to give. Honesty is very important. Everybody has different skills and different levels of each skill, some stronger than others. It's much better to be honest upfront than to get put in a job you are not prepared for.

If you are honest there will be nothing to be nervous about. Communicate with your recruiter and make sure they know what your skills are so they can help you find the travel job that is right for you. Be sure your recruiter does know if you are open to working in areas you are unfamiliar with and are willing to learn new skills and techniques.

So be honest. Don't over-estimate or under-estimate yourself. Complete the checklist honestly and be specific. Longer checklists may seem like a burden but can help you in landing that great assignment. If your checklist shows the skill a certain job requires it's better to have it listed there.

Safe travels!
