As a travel nurse or healthcare traveler you have the opportunity to travel for a few years to enhance your career and broaden your horizons. Even if you do want to eventually settle down in a permanent position there are some places you may just want to check out before you hang up your hat in one place for an extended stay.

All of the following locations have an abundance of healthcare facilities and hospitals that are always in need of quality healthcare professionals and travel nurses.

Hawaii – and really, need I say more? Who doesn't want to visit Hawaii at some point?

New York – of course, the Big Apple. But there is so much more to this diverse state than just the big city. There are mountains and beautiful rural areas to explore.

Florida – much more diverse than you would expect. Disney World and the other theme parks centrally located, but so much outdoors to see and do, from the Florida Keys to the inland rivers and crystal clear natural springs and most everything outdoors can be enjoyed year round thanks to the warm climate.

Oregon- great cities like Portland have lots of opportunities for travel nurses. Oregon is known for its beautiful coastlines and mountains and Portland is one of the best cities for food and cultural activities.

California – the Pacific Ocean, ancient Redwood Forests, Hollywood, Disney Land and the Pacific Coast Highway scenery. Beautiful warm weather so you will have plenty of time for those great outdoor activities.

Alaska – is known as one of the friendliest states. Snow activities are abundant of course as well as land tours and wildlife cruises, all great ideas for your time off when working in one of the larger cities.

Vermont - in the beautiful northeastern part of our country, known for its beautiful fall foliage and stunning resorts.

Virginia – where the Virginians will greet you with Southern Hospitality. From beaches and cities to mountains and breathtaking scenery, there is much history, heritage and beauty to be found in Virginia.

North Carolina - also on the eastern coast of the US, and home to beautiful beaches on its east coast and mountains on the western side. Asheville is a great place to build your experience and there is plenty of history and beautiful scenery all around.

Colorado – The Rocky Mountains may be calling you if you are an outdoor adventurer with lots of skiing, backpacking, hiking, biking, white water rafting….most places are within an hour of a city for travel assignments.

Arizona – Vast open spaces and Native American lands to explore. The Grand Canyon is here for many activities and breathtaking scenery as well.

There are so many places to see and explore in our beautiful country. These are just a few of the places that are available to the travel nurse in today's healthcare industry. Safe travels!
