Five MORE Things You Should LEAVE OFF Your Travel Healthcare Resume

Five MORE Things You Should LEAVE OFF Your Travel Healthcare Resume

*Author's Note: We want you to know because we care – the first "Five Things" are in an already published blog by HCEN/HealthCareTravelers.com.

  • 1.Your "Objective": Just like the movie "Snakes on a Plane" (there are snakes on a plane) and the movie Titanic (the ship tragically sinks), we know your objective – TO GET A TRAVEL JOB. Enough said.
  • 2.A "Resume Template": Honestly, they do not impress and they do not help. Recruiters want to know you have experience in your nursing specialty (if you are a nurse) or your healthcare occupation (therapist/ CST/ respiratory), what level of education you have, your licensing information as well as your contact information. That is all they need.
  • 3.Other jobs OUTSIDE of Healthcare: Just not that interested that you are involved in a multi-level marketing venture or do massage therapy on the side or even volunteer in your community, just keep it simple.
  • 4.GAPS: This is a big one and could be the exception to #3 above because recruiters have to know where you have been and what you have been doing for the past SEVEN years. Prospective hospitals want to be sure you have experience but also it is for background checks. Leaving a gap because you have an issue with your license or because you were incarcerated won't help you to introduce yourself. Be upfront and honest with both of those.
  • 5.A rigorous discussion of your student internship/externship: Sorry but rarely will either of these be a substitute for full-time employment in your field. Recruiters need you to have the job and being paid for the job AFTER graduation in your field by an accredited hospital/employer.

We will have more for you soon. Happy Traveling!
