Compact Licensure States

Compact Licensure States

Did you know that there are 25 states in the US that offer "Compact" licensing for nurses. Washington DC also is a Compact area. This means that if you have a Compact License, it is good in all of these states. That makes paperwork much easier for professional healthcare travelers as it allows you to have one multistate license and the ability to practice in your home state and any other compact states.

The requirements to obtain a compact license are as follows:
You must legally reside in a NLC state. You can see the list below
You must hold an active RN license in good standing – NOTE: APRN's are not included in Compact Licensing.
You must meet licensing requirements in your home state and be accountable in the state where you are practicing.

Here is a list of the states that are accepting Compact Licensure at this time:

Arkansas
Arizona
Colorado
Delaware
Idaho
Iowa
Kentucky
Maine
Maryland
Mississippi
Missouri
Montana
Nebraska
New Hampshire
New Mexico
North Carolina
North Dakota
Rhode Island
South Carolina
South Dakota
Tennessee
Texas
Utah
Virginia
Wisconsin

And Washington, DC

As always, safe travels!
