Take A Walk…Outdoors if possible!

Take A Walk…Outdoors if possible!

Did you know that even a 10 minute walk can change your mood and improve your attitude noticeably. That's right, only 10 minutes can change your whole outlook….can you afford 10 minutes? I like to walk for longer periods of course and luckily, I live in beautiful, sunny Florida so I can also get outdoors almost every day to walk.

Walking for ten minutes or longer has been shown to improve your mood as well as decrease your risk of chronic disease along with several other major benefits. Creativity is enhanced by a brisk walk as well as your heart health and more than likely your weight as well. More movement is good. My motto is keep moving or I won't be able to.

If you can get outdoors the benefits of your walk increase even more, especially if you can get out in nature. Walking in the woods or a park around trees is the best therapy available. The beach is also great so you can also benefit from breathing the negative ions produced by the water.

Walking is also one of the best stress relievers there is and most of us can do it without any expensive equipment or supplies, other than a good pair of shoes. We all know that as travel nurses and professional healthcare travelers there is always plenty of stress to deal with. And stress will make you old and unwell, before your time.

Move that body if you want to keep it. And get outdoors for a brisk walk as often as you can. Don't forget, it only takes ten minutes to improve your whole day, and long term your life!
